There are a few meticulous growers in Burgundy who plant at high density. This gives the resultant wines great intensity and clarity. Olivier Lamy’s whites are perhaps the most famous examples, and these offerings run into the many 100’s of dollars. Bruno Lorenzon plants at 14,000 vines per ha in his Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin vineyard. The 2018 has just landed and it is quite stunning, one of the most engaging Chardonnay wines of the year for us. Beautifully pure with a hint of green melon, some white peach and a squeeze of lemon. It is unctuous with real cool rock minerality. There's a saline quality to the wine and it has such great clarity and detail. Length is impressive. JH 2020 “exceptional density’ and is ‘very, very long’ - Jasper Morris M.W “Once again, this cuvée has turned out brilliantly” - William Kelley
