1987 Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Echezeaux, Grand Cru

This is pure, understated and earthy, classic old-school Burg. There's some pine needle sap and the fruit starts off with a brown sugar edge. It really develops in the glass and becomes more precise and delineated. There's black cherry tinged with spice. It is very minerally and nothing about the wine is forced. It has plenty of floral nuance and some meaty development. Proportion and balance is perfect and length quite sneaky. JH 2017
